Megalo Box Anime Gets Season 2

The staff of the original animated series Megalo Box announced Saturday at Anime NYC that Megalo Box 2 was in development.

The anime televised in 13 episodes was released in the spring of 2018. The volumes on Blu-ray included three short episodes, the first serving as a prologue to episode 1. Crunchyroll aired the anime on its platform during its broadcast. Viz released the series as a complete collection in June, which included a standard DVD, a Blu-ray disc, and a limited edition Blu-ray.

The anime celebrates the 50th anniversary of Ikki Kajiwara (pen name Asao Takamori) and the manga Ashita no Joe of Tetsuya Chiba. It presents an original story. In the new story, a man called JD (Junk Dog) participates in fixed boxing matches in an underground ring in order to live. Today, he enters the ring again, but he meets a certain person. JD wants to take on a challenge that puts everything in danger.

You Moriyama (director of animation for Master Keaton and Lupine III: The woman named Fujiko Mine, designer for Kabaneri Iron Fortress and Attack on Titan) led the series at TMS Entertainment. He was also in charge of the conceptual design. Katsuhiko Manabe (Shin Kyūseishu Densetsu Hokuto no Ken: Raoh-den Gekitō no Shō, Shin Kyūseishu Densetsu Hokuto no Ken: Raoh-den Junai no Shō) and Kensaku Kojima (Shinya Shokudō series live) wrote the scenarios, and mabanua ( Kids on the Slope) composed the music.
