The first episode of the anime had already been presented at Anime Expo in Los Angeles on July 6th.
Yasutaka Yamamoto (Hinomaru Sumo, Valkyria Chronicles, actually, I'm ...) directs the anime at Felix Film. Go Zappa (We never learn: BOKUBEN, Blend S) is the editor of the series, Yuichi Hirano (Alderamin on the Sky) is the designer of the character and Akiyuki Tateyama (Kemono Friends, Laid-Back Camp) is the producer of music.

Sekai Project ran a Kickstarter campaign in 2017 to fund an original video anime (OVA) based on the game franchise. The OVA was launched on Steam in December 2017. The Kickstarter campaign also funded a 12-minute OVA of the previous game, in the form of a strech goal.
The first three main games of the franchise were launched on PC, PlayStation 4 and Nintendo Switch. Neko Works develops the Nekopara Vol. 4: Game of Neko pastry Noel.
